ATG Product Catalog overview



The product catalog is a collection of repository items (categories, products, media, etc.) that provides the organizational framework for your commerce site. ATG Commerce includes a standard catalog implementation, based on the ATG SQL Repository, that you can use or extend as necessary.

You can create and edit all of your repository items through the ATG Control Center, which also allows you to create page templates to display these items.

Custom Catalogs. You can display different versions of your product catalog for different viewers. For example, if a corporate customer only wants its employees to order certain items from your store, you can confine them to viewing and ordering only those products.

Configurable Commerce Items. This feature allows you to sell items with variable components, such as a computer that can be purchased with different hard drive capacities.
